Jacinta Estes, School Counselor
6th Graders A-L and 7th Graders Hello and Welcome Back! My name is Jacinta Estes and this is my fifth year at Moore Square. Before moving to Raleigh, I was a counselor in Winston-Salem, NC for 6 years. This year I serve as the 7th grade counselor but I am available to anyone who needs me. I attended Winston-Salem State University (GO RAMS!) where I graduated with a B.A. in Psychology and a minor Biology. I then attended graduate school at Virginia Commonwealth University (GO RAMS!) where I graduated with a Masters in Counselor Education. I am also a National Board Certified Counselor. I look forward to meeting and working with you all. I am here to help you achieve success. So no matter what you may need help with...it could be organization, conflict resolution, talking about careers and high school, or even just to talk about how you are feeling, I am here for you. I have been married for 10 years and I have a happy, inquisitive and talkative 7 year old in the 3rd Grade. In my free time, I enjoy dancing, listening to music, watching movies, and spending time with my family. Michael Wray, School Counselor
6th Graders M-Z, 8th Graders Greetings Moore Square Family! My name is Mr. Wray and this is my second year here at Moore Square Middle School. Though my official caseload is considered 6th grade M-Z and all of 8th grade, I am accessible to all students and look forward to meeting you. As far as my training goes, I obtained two Master’s degrees from North Carolina Central University in School Counseling and Clinical Mental Health Counseling, and am also a National Board of Certified Counselors (NBCC) Minority Addictions Fellow. Prior to that, I received my B.A. in Psychology from the University of Pittsburgh after an accomplished athletic career in track and field. I arrive as a School Counselor after exploring a variety of different career/lifepaths and bring my unique life experiences to the work I do with students. I take a solutions focused therapeutic approach in conjunction with mindfulness-based techniques, and believe students are not truly able to reach their highest potential if we do not adequately address the challenges they face from a socioemotional perspective (especially as it pertains to coping and resilience). I try to bring my full, authentic self, promoting self-advocacy, autonomy and a student’s ability to solve their own problems, meeting students where they are and encouraging ways in which to access a growth mindset with consistency. As far as more background on myself, I was born in New York City and grew up in Philadelphia, but have called the Raleigh-Durham area home for the last 5 years. I’m a huge music person and frequent concerts and festivals all over, cannot keep up with my huge backlog of great tv and movies to watch, and recently started reconnected with books and my love for reading/learning. I have too much fun talking anime, games, etc. with my students so talk nerdy to me as much as you like. If you see me in my office, please speak as I love engaging with students and families and when I’m not in my office, I’m likely in classrooms with students. I can be reached via email at [email protected] or my office phone which is 919-664-5737 ext. 26638. You can also text me (preferably) at 910-434-5053. Quick Intro |
